Romance Month’s Winning Couple To Tie The Knot This Weekend In Antigua

Antigua and Barbudas Romance Month promotion is underway for the 6th consecutive year and this years theme is Live Greener, Happily Ever After.

The annual destination wedding and honeymoon promotion takes place throughout June and eco-friendly Caribbean weddings are being promoted throughout the month.

This years winners, Jacqueline Adams and Ronald Critchlow, arrived in Antigua on Thursday ahead of their big day which will take place on Saturday 24th June, 2012.

During Romance Month, couples will be able to fast-track through Immigration and Customs as part of a new system that has been set up specifically for couples arriving to celebrate weddings and honeymoons in Antigua during the month of June.

This new programme provides a red carpet welcome to loved-up couples who come to the islands to get married abroad or to spend their honeymoons during the Romance Month promotion.

“The honeymoon is one of the most cherished moments in an individual’s life and the expedited process will demonstrate the destination’s commitment to creating a memorable experience for couples who choose Antigua & Barbuda, explained Colin James, the CEO of Antigua & Barbuda Tourism Authority (ABTA).

This gesture of appreciation is expected to strengthen the destination’s competitive position in the weddings and honeymoon market, one of the fastest growing niches in Caribbean tourism.”

This years green theme will be evident throughout the winning couples wedding day and during their visit they will explore Antigua by scooter and visit Green Island where they will take a tour of the wildlife sanctuary and organic gardens. To symbolise their love and commitment to each other and the environment, the pair will plant their very own tree on the island.

“This years couple, like many others who recycle, shop for organic food and conserve energy at home, want to symbolise their commitment to earth-conscious values by simplifying their wedding day celebrations, commented Derede Samuel Whitlock, the USA Director of Tourism for Antigua & Barbuda.

By finding ways to minimise carbon dioxide emissions that contribute to global warming, these couples can green their dreams and help stem further depletion of the earth’s natural resources.”

Originally from the United Kingdom but now living in New York, Jacqueline and Ronald will be tying the knot on Saturday at Nonsuch Bay Resort in Freetown, Antigua at 5 p.m. and the Caribbean wedding will be broadcast live on ABS Television.

The twin-island nation is leading spot for Caribbean weddings and romantic honeymoons thanks to an array of beautiful landscapes made up of sweeping sandy beaches, turquoise ocean waters, swaying coconut palm trees, and sunny blue skies.

Situated between the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, the Antigua and Barbuda is one of the top Caribbean wedding destinations and it is famous for its wide selection of beautiful pristine pink and white sand beaches which are perfect for romantic beach weddings.
